20 minutes of hissing, tumbling off kilter field recording from Tossapol with Places on Un Poco Fría. It’s a curious genre. In what other physical medium could these tracks exist than cassette really? What words could explain what these sounds consist of, mean, or why some choose to listen? Collected sounds of what are described as “small objects and stones on guitar” but also a game basketball, traffic, subtle laughter, light acoustics. And how does listening to this differ from hearing as one would in their daily movement thru the world. I suppose it’s the attention that differs. As a recorded medium the listener chooses to engage these sounds and consider them attentively as opposed to the rote behavior of living one’s life with ears open and mind closed.
