Foreboding electronics from Evan Caminiti with 2015 LP release, Meridian on Thrill Jockey. Nine tracks of absolutely ripping synthesizer work. Buzzing, massive basslines, howling caustic melodies and washes of glitched static. Like all of Caminiti’s work – this has a sense of scope and cinema. Not since the desert acoustics of his 2012 release Night Dust have I felt one of his releases to be so precisely in my sweet spot. Nocturnal, melodic, comforting, harrowing, the listener stalked between points dark and light, opaque and translucent, from the safety of a street light to the menacing blackness of the back alley.
